Southern Elegance Alpacas

Meet Our Alpacas!

Our Charming Ladies

OurHerd1

I am Genevieve! I am queen of the herd, and love to have my silver fleece admired. I try to keep it sparkling, but can’t resist having a good roll now and then.

I am Pearl! I like to spend most of my time alone, browsing the pasture. I stay away from the grain, mostly, and keep my figure trim and neat.

I am Lady! I try to live up to my name, though sometimes it is hard not to be assertive when there is grain around. I love to spend time with my daughter Pearl and my dear friend, Brownie.

I am Brownie! I am one of the biggest in the herd and I love attention, especially when it comes with food. Sometimes I get too excited about feeding time and run right into the grain bucket. I am very proud of my son, Graham.

I am Little Drizzle! My sister, Genevieve, laughs at the tiny splash of white on my head, but I’ve been told it’s charming. I like to pronk when I’m let into a new pasture.

I am Snowflower! I love to smile at people from a distance, but don’t try to catch me, or you’ll find out I am a loud screamer too.

I am Sweet Pea! I live up to my name, just a little pea-sized alpaca who loves to be close to and rub up against people. Like my sister, Little Drizzle, I have a small patch of white on my head.

I am Chloe! I am just a little girl, but I make up for it with my marshmallow fleece. I get teased in the Spring when my head looks like a giant pom-pom.

I am Prairie Dancer! I am not as greedy as some of my friends. I have more important things to worry about, like making sure there is order in the field. I do not hesitate to scream at anyone who misbehaves.

I am Chocolate Chip! I help to nanny the herd and keep things in order. In spite of my age, I am still full of energy and have fleece as fine as baby hair, or so they tell me.

I am Morning Star! My friends tend to laugh at me for being the biggest in the herd, but I don’t mind. I love to roll, and I love feeding time.

I am Libby Lu! I love grain and attention. I am also fond of our barn cat and very proud of my beautiful fleece.

I am Liliana! I usually keep to myself, but once my curiosity got the better of me. I sniffed too close to our new barn cat and ended up with a scratch on my nose.

I am Godiva! I really am the color of milk chocolate. Though they say I’m temperamental, I really won’t object to being petted if you’re persistent, especially if you have grain.

I am Gigi! I like to be petted and show off my jet black curls (which are just as pretty as my sister Genevieve’s). I can be quite curious, and a little pushy when I see grain.

I am Collette! You’ll always find me smiling and happy. My favorite thing to do is to graze quietly with my mother, Gracie. She’s proud of my soft fawn coat.

I am Calico! I am tall as a bean-pole, but I wish I were shorter; I don’t like to be noticed, and definitely don’t like to be caught. Unlike my sister, Gigi, I’m very shy.

I am Imogine! I’m the only Appaloosa in the herd, (that means I have spots). I am very gentle and like to stay close to my friends. My son, Oliver, got his gentleness from me. (His dad, Luxor, was a sweetie too).

I am Gracie! Though I’m sometimes teased for my “gorilla-nose,” I don’t mind and still enjoy being petted. I enjoy spending time with my daughters, Collette and Godiva, and waving to my son, Remmy.

I am Jenna! I love grain. I also like to have my own way and sometimes put up a long chase when I need to be moved from one field to another. I enjoy looking over at my son Hutch from time to time too.

I am Prairie Princess! Now that my daughters, Prairie Dancer and Libby Lu are quite grown up, I like to be a nanny to the younger alpacas. I don’t mind having visitors either, even when they come to trim my nails.

I am Astrid! I love to roam around with my daughters, Chloe and Liliana (who looks just like me). Liliana’s son, Finn, is great friends with Daschall, my son. I’m a little shy with visitors.

Our Respectable Gentlemen

I am Reprise! I am the unchallenged King of the herd. I keep an eye on things and make sure everyone stays in line, (especially when it’s toenail trimming time). Of course, all that responsibility makes me hungry, and I expect to be served my fair share of grain.

I am Remmington! I’m fondly known as Remmy by my friends, (which includes the whole world). I don’t mind attention a bit, though I sometimes get teased for being round as a barrel. I took a stroll outside the pasture once when I found the gate open. I haven’t been out since, but I do like to lean on the top of the fence and take a look around.

I am Daschall! The other men look up to me as the police alpaca because I patrol the edge of the pasture. The farm dogs sometimes try to scare me, but I face them until they give up and go away. I am such a faithful patroller, I wore a pathway along the fence (now known as Daschall’s Highway).

I am Oliver! I’m the son of a champion herdsire and hope to be one myself someday. I love the peace and quiet of our pasture, but don’t mind the occasional interruption when people come to pet me.

I am Freedom (Sparky for short)! As you may have guessed, I was born on the Fourth of July. I’m still the baby around here, but I’m learning to hold my own. Someday I will be a great big herdsire! I am always curious about what’s going on and love to sniff around, (though they say I sometimes get in the way).

I am Hutch! I’m just an easy-going happy-go-lucky alpaca. I mind my business and hope everyone else minds theirs.

I am Finn! I like to be able to see what’s going on, so my favorite place to stand is on the little hill in our pasture. I try to be respectful of Uncle Daschall, but it’s awfully hard when there’s grain to divvy up.

I am Graham! I like to be close to people and let them look at my shiny crimpy fleece. But beware of touching me, or I might let off a spitball or two.
